Philippine Azkals Ranking 144th Second in Southeast Asia

The Philippines Azkals maintained its standing at 144th place in the latest edition of the FIFA world Rankings released on July 4, 2013. Last June 2013, the Philippines ranked 144th and third in Southeast Asia.

Although the Philippines remained at 144th place worldwide, they country moved higher in Southeast Asia after the June 2013 second placer Vietnam dropped 12 places to 145th.

The Southeast Asian powerhouse Thailand remained at first place in the Asean Football Federation (AFF) as they ranked at no. 138th worldwide and first in Southeast Asia.

The Philippine Azkals saw only one game action last June 4, when they defeated Hong Kong for the first time with a 1-nil scorecard courtesy of James Younghusband and the heroic of Fulham goalkeeper Neil Etheridge.

European champions Spain still occupied the top spot, followed by Germany, Colombia, Argentina, and The Netherlands rounded out the top five. Confederations Cup Champion Brazil climbed on rankings at they went up to No. 9 from their previous 13th spot worldwide.
