Taiwan 6.0 Earthquake March 27, 2013 Details

An earthquake struck the island-state of Taiwan, or the Republic of China with a magnitude at least 6.1. According to  the AFP news agency, the earthquake struck at around 02:00 AM local time on Wednesday, March 27, 2013.

Some buildings in the East Asian state had been shaken but there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage. The US Geological Survey registered the quake with a magnitude 6.0, based upon Reuters report.

According to Taiwan Central Weather Bureau, the epicentre of the quake was near central Taiwan at a depth of about 15km.

  • 21 km SE of Buli, Taiwan
  • 40 km ENE of Lugu, Taiwan
  • 47 km ESE of Zhongxing New Village, Taiwan
  • 48 km E of Nantou, Taiwan
  • 735 km ENE of Hong Kong, Hong Kong
