The Chinese Basketball League champion team Shanghai Sharks owned by NBA superstar Yao Ming will be going to the Philippines for a series of exhibition games against the PBA All-Stars and the Smart Gilas Pilipinas.
The Gilas Pilipinas squad who are now preparing on their final line-up for the upcoming FIBA Asia Championship will use the exhibition games against Yao Ming’s squad Shanghai Sharks as part of their final preparation for the tournament that will be held in the country.
According to Richard Garcia of the Philippine Sports Commission, the Shanghai Sharks will face a PBA All-Star Selection or a PBA team on May 6, before taking on Gilas Pilipinas on May 8.
Former Houston Rockets superstar Yao MIng will reportedly come over to witness the basketball showdown. The PSC who was in-charge of bringing in the Shanghai Sharks will choose either the SM Mall of Asia-Arena or the Smart-Araneta Coliseum as the venue of the basketball event.
The exhibition games will be played in between the PBA All-Star Week in Digos from May 1 to 6 and the opening of the PBA Governors’ Cup on May 10.
