Although the negotiator made a commitment to participate in the selection process his role as the government’s chief negotiator with the Muslim rebels is not yet done.
The job of Leonen is to help draft the framework agreement’s annexes on wealth and power sharing, and normalization preparatory to the signing of a final peace agreement, said presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda.
Marvic Leonen leads the Judicial and Council’s shortlist of nominees to fill the post vacated by Chief Justice Ma. Lourdes Sereno. Other nominees were DLSU law dean Jose Manuel Diokno, former Energy Sec. Raphael Lotilla, CA Presiding Justice Andres Reyes Jr., and CA (–foul word(s) removed–)ociate Justices Jose Reyes Jr., Noel Tijam and Rosemari Carandang.
