A Filipino-American cyclist, Daniel Caluag will be joining the Philippine Olympic delegation to be send by the Philippine Olympic Committee to the most prestigious sporting events in the world.
Chief of Mission Manny Lopez of the Philippine Team received a notice from the London Organizing Committee for Olympic Games have confirmed qualification of Daniel Caluag. He will be the eighth member of the Philippine Team to represent the Philippines in the Olympics.
The other Olympians who was included in the Philippine Team were boxer Mark Anthony Barriga, swimmers Jessie Khing Lacuna and Jasmine Alkhaldi, Long Jumper Marestella Torres, Steeplechaser Rene Herrera, Judoka Tomohiko Hoshina, and Skeet Shooter Brian Rosario.
Daniel Caluag was a son of a Filipino couple from Bulacan who migrated to the United States, qualified in three tough qualifying BMX tournaments and earned the much-needed points to earn a slot for the Olympics.
The 25-year-old Caluag is a four-time BMX top professional in the United States and the only Asian to make it to the Olympics’ BMX Event.
