The self-proclaimed ‘overweight lover’ who died just last week at the age 44 was greatly remembered; not only by his family, and friends but also of political figures. He was greatly taken into account through laughter and tears at his funeral service on Friday.
Heavy D was buried at Grace Baptist Church, attended by people who loves him so much, and among those in attendance were Usher, Queen Latifah, Don King, Q-Tip, John Legend and Rosie Perez.
With the anecdotes given by Heavy D’s longtime friend Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and words of encouragement for his young daughter, the funeral became sentimental. It was poignant to think how the hip-hop star influence each of their lives.
President Obama also sympathize Heavy D’s family delivered in a letter saying:
“We extend our heartfelt condolences at this difficult time. He will be remembered for his infectious optimism and many contributions to American music. Please know that you and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.”
And through jokes, Combs talked about how Heavy D helped give him his start in the music industry, and how their decades-long friendship continued until his friend’d death.
While Heavy D’s 11-year-old daughter Xea, told the audience that her father was “still here, not in the flesh, but in the spirit.”
May you rest in peace, Heavy D.
