Charlie Sheen to do Comedy Central Roast

Charlie Sheen has agreed to be the highlight of Comedy Central’s popular Roast show.  The Roast of Charlie Sheen plans to tape in Los Angeles on September 10, 2011 and air on September 19, 2011 – comically one hour after the first new episode of Two and a Half Men.  The host and comedians for the roast have yet to be announced.

Roasts Are..

Comedy Central produced and televised celebrity roasts for the private New York Friar’s Club from 1998 to 2002 until the contract expired;  shortly after they began holding their own original roasts – of famous celebrities usually already subjects of mockery – in similar taste.  Basically, one popular face is chosen to be in spotlight of the roast, and is teased relentlessly by choice comedians.  Usually everyone is subject to be made fun of at a roast, however, including the roast master (presenter) and other comedians present.  Past roastees (spotlights of the roast) have included Denis Leary, Pamela Anderson, William Shatner, Flavor Flav, Joan Rivers, David H(–foul word(s) removed–)elhoff, and soon will include the bi-winning, tiger-blooded Charlie Sheen.

Sheen Now and Then

Currently Charlie Sheen has been highlighted for his outrageous antics in which he seems awkwardly delusional – or in his terms, enlightened and special.  In a Today Show interview, he stated, “I am on a drug, it’s called Charlie Sheen.  It’s not available, because if you try it once, you will die – your face will melt off and your children will weep over your exploded body.”  He also requested higher pay for each episode of the popular CBS show, Two and a Half Men, of which he was terminated from, having his part replaced by actor Ashton Kutcher.  Sheen even created a tour called the “Torpedo of Truth.”

Sheen has acted in movies – Platoon, Major League, Hot Shots!, Money Talks, Scary Movie 3 – as well as in popular sitcoms such as Two and a Half Men and Spin City.  Throughout his career, his personal life was reported on, with headlining news that covered his drug and alcohol abuse, domestic violence allegations, as well as his struggles with marriage.  He’s attempted rehab and has overdosed on cocaine – such as in 1998, which landed him in the hospital.  He’s also been charged with felony menacing, of which he was granted a plea bargain for, entering him in a rehab center, one month probation and 36 hours of anger management.  Sheen has a history of disruption and violence on his name, but only recently is he being speculated publicly as having a mental illness.

“It’s going to be epic.”

The roasters will certainly have a lot to work with regarding Charlie Sheen, which the actor himself agrees with, stating, “You could say I’ve been providing kindling for this Roast for a while … It’s going to be epic.”  At least he has what a roastee should probably be required to have – a sense of humor.
