Philker: Filipino Hackers Attacked Philippine Websites

Philker was group of Filipino Hackers who were in constant watched over the vulnerability of different Philippine websites, especially those who are belonging to the Philppine government. The latest victim of the Filipino hackers Philker was the Office of the Vice-President Jejomar Binay.

Philker had already warned the OVP about the vulnerabilities of their site but the warning was ignored so they defaced the website of the OVP and left a warning message that had been displayed on their website.

The group was quoted as saying on their warning as “We are not trying to damage you. We only want to help protect our country’s cyberspace by doing what seems to be the most efficient way to get everyone’s attention.” Philker stated.

They further adds that “May this deface serve as a reminder that you always have to look out for intruders. No matter how intelligent and competent your computer personnel are, there will be unethical hackers that are constantly working on breaking in your security,” according to Philker’s statement.

Last June 13, 2011 Philker hackers attacked one of the Philippine government agencies in-charged of overseeing the nuclear activities of the country. The Philippine Nuclear Research Institute was victimized by the Filipino hackers Philker.

Another attacked was staged by Philker to the Food and Drug Administration of the Philippine government, the agency was tasked of overseeing the food and drugs safety in the Philippines.

Philippine internet security officers were acknowledging the group as one of the few individuals who were concerned in terms of cyber security. According to some security experts, although the move was illegal but it was helpful to help solved the growing needs of awareness regarding cyber attacks.

For the past few months hacking had been a common news to us, especially those popular websites that had been attacked. Two international hacking groups Anonymous and Lulzsec. Philker stated that they were not affiliated with the two famous hacking groups in the United States but they left a message similar to the message used by the two famous groups.

Filipinos were always considers as one of the threat to cyber security in the world. One of the famous and highly publicized hackers from the Philippine was the creator of “I Love You” virus. It cost an estimated $10 billion dollars woth of damaged to the United States government.

One of the world’s deadliest hacker was a Filipino named as Onil de Guzman, athough there were speculations that Onil was not involved but it was her sister Irene de Guzman.
