Hackers nab card data from 200,000 Citi customers

Citigroup To Cut Thousands Of Jobs Amidst Posting Huge LossNEW YORK – Citigroup Inc. is now the latest addition to the trending number of hacking incidents eyeing those high-profile company’s in the world.

According to reports from the (–foul word(s) removed–)ociated press, the New York bank was hacked on Thursday wherein an estimated 200,000 credit bank from Citibank was stolen.

The said data includes that of names, account numbers and e-mail addresses from their credit card holders who were based on Northern America. However, despite the hackers access on the site, Citigroup announced that there are information’s who were not stolen, vital information that might be used for identity theft and it includes that of social security number, birthdates, and card security code.

The said number of access data were equivalent to that of 1% of the total accounts they were handling rising up to 21 million.

To ensure the safety of their customers, CitiBank are now reaching out to their card holders for close monitoring.

To recall, just this April, hackers were accessing numerous known company sites including that of the Sony corp, Google, PBS, Lockheed Martin, Sonypictures and an FBI affiliate to name a few.

Hackers had paralyzed the operation of various gaming sites run by Sony Corp including Sony Playstation network as well as that they had stolen millions of music codes from sonypictures. In the case of PBS, fake news stories were posted at pbs.com. Those mentioned were just examples of what are those things done by hackers to damage the reputation of the concerned sites for fun and contentment to their part.

Security measures were being tightened to protect information of the users for CitiBank.

The series of hacking incident shows that databases of various corporations are not well protected that is why it was easily accessed by intruders.
