In the latest report of Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), Typhoon Chedeng has already changed its direction and will not hit the country anymore.
According to the weather bureau, Typhoon Chedeng will no longer make a landfall in the Philippines as it changes its direction after the high pressure ridge to the north of the disturbance has dissolved and it is now expected to head straight to the south of Japan.
Wednesday, when Pagasa has issued that the eye of the Typhoon will cross the northeastern tip of Luzon and gave a warning to the residents in the area to be prepared.
Despite the change in direction of Typhoon Chedeng, Pagasa said that heavy rains will still be experienced in some parts of the country especially in Northern and Central Luzon due to Typhoon Chedeng’s vast cloud.
Typhoon Chedeng is expected to live the Philippine area of responsibility on Sunday.
Chedeng was last spotted moving northwest at 19 kilometers per hour with a maximum sustained wind of 170 kph near its eye and gustiness of 205 kph.
Some areas in the country are still under public signal including signal no. 2 in Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Albay, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte and the Samar provinces while signal no. 1 in Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Aurora, Quezon, Marinduque, Masbate, Northern Leyte and the islands of Burias, Ticao and Biliran.
Pagasa said that residents in Bicol region and Samar provinces will experience a stormy weather while the rest of eastern Luzon will have rainy day accompanied with slightly strong wind.
Slight Rain with gusty winds will also be experience in Masbate, Marinduque, Burias Island, Northern Leyte and Biliran Island as Typhoon Chedeng is expected to enhance the prevailing southwest monsoon and likewise bring rains over Visayas and Mindanao while the rest of the country will have a cloudy sky with rainshowers and thunderstorms.
Residents in low lying and mountains areas are still being warned by Pagasa of possible flashflood and landslide. On the other hand, travelers are also advised to postpone any plans of travelling via sea due to big waves or storm surges in the coastal area brought by Typhoon Chedeng.
