Erik Spoelstra the Filipino coach of Miami Heat is making history in National Basketball (–foul word(s) removed–)ociation (NBA). He was the first Filipino coach to climb in the stage of National Basketball (–foul word(s) removed–)ociation (NBA) Eastern Conference Finals.
The Heat team was led by its Big 3 — Dwayne Wade, LeBron James and Chris Bosh – who were determined enough to defeat their East arch rivals Boston Celtics, 97-87, and won the series 4-2.
The 37-year-old Filipino-American coach was the youngest head coach in the history of the NBA. He made history when he became the first Asian coach, a Filipino that reaches NBA in 2008. Spoelstra, whose mother is Filipino, was able to improve the Heat’s record from 15 wins, 57 losses in the 2007-2008 seasons to 43 wins, 39 losses in the 2008-2009 seasons.
Miami Heat acquired LeBron James and Chris Bosh through blockbuster trade and made the conference lively during the game.

Spoelstra said the secret of winning the game was giving more emphasis on defense.
“Being defensive on the game became the mobilizing factor to improve the team, we are building up these game habits, and we feel that it works a lot of improvement to individual as well as the team,” Spoelstra said.
