Tropical storm “Bebeng” hits the Philippines as heavy rains followed creating landslide that killed at least four people in Camarines Sur.
At around 4 a.m. on Sunday, the landslide hit Sitio (subvillage) Ikog in the town of Balatan, Camarines Sur. Officials said that it was where the sisters namely Maribel R. Sanchez, 19, and Princess R. Sanchez, 8, died along with their seven-year-old cousin Marco Sanchez Espinida.
Alarmed citizens and local officials immediately recovered the bodies of the victims as they took them to the nearby chapel of the said village.
M(–foul word(s) removed–)ive floods caused by the present weather disturbance covered the roads going to Balatan as vehicles find it hard to p(–foul word(s) removed–) through the said highways.
As a result, 31-year-old Aristeo Sabido also died when his Nissan Pickup truck lose control along Rolando Highway in Barangay Tanawan, Lupi.
The calamity occurred after heavy rains poured over several regions which started on Saturday.
Typhoon “Bebeng continues as Signal No. 2 is raised in areas of Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, parts of Catanduanes, Polillo Island, Isabela, Northern Quezon, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, and Nueva Vizcaya.
Whereas, Signal No. 1 has cautioned the residents of Albay, Sorosogon, Southern Quezon, Mt. Province, Laguna, Rizal, Bulacan, Tarlac, Pangasinan, La Union, Kalinga, Ifugao ,Southern Cagayan and Pampanga,
The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council under the leadership of Ernesto Bagasbas held an emergency meeting to respond on the said disaster as they plan to send relief goods as well as financial (–foul word(s) removed–)istance to the victims.
