Pop star Lady Gaga disappointed the members of Catholic religion when she managed leaking her new song entitled “Judas” few days before the Holy Week begins.
Catholic leaders raised their own views regarding how modern music, arts and literature frequently attack the Church.
Lyrics of “Judas” sang by Lady Gaga may convey a wrong message if listeners will take it literally.
Others believe that the 25-year-old Lady Gaga has a genuine talent that satisfies her fans. However, some Catholic leaders consider her song as deceiving because of their belief that Lady Gaga is trying to shock Christians in general.
For Christians, Apostle Judas was the one who betrayed Jesus Christ. But in the song Judas, the famous artist Lady Gaga sings about how she loves Judas.
“Jesus in my virtue and Judas is the demon I cling to … I’m just a holy fool, oh baby he’s so cruel, but I’m still in love with Judas baby” are the lines included from the new song, Judas.
Lady Gaga was known to be raised as a Catholic. But now, anyone will be convinced to say that she gradually inherits the image of the famous personalities of Madonna and Sinead O’Connor who both happened to face issues that were able to use religious imagery during their mere performances on stage as well as on their music videos.
During the Saturday Night Live performance of O’Connor in 1992, an outrage widely spread when tore up a photo of Pope John Paul II as she had termed him “evil”.
On the other hand, the Vatican also condemned the popular singer Madonna because of her video entitled “Like a Prayer” in 1989. Madonna’s video had a scenario of burning crosses and stigmata. Worst is, there was scene showing a p(–foul word(s) removed–)ionate kiss with a saint.
Just like O’Connor and Madonna, some performances of the singer Lady Gaga could be considered as a reflection of blasphemy especially that there was an instance that she had dressed like that of a nun while swallowing the rosary on the stage.
