There are two types of pain, the acute and chronic pain according to duration. Acute Pain is a pain experience by a person just for a moment and it resolves quickly. There is also what we called the Psychogenic Pain or the Somatoform Pain.

In Psychogenic Pain, the medical professionals and the public tend to believe that the pain being experience by the patient is from a psychological source which is not real, that is why the sufferers are often stigmatized. It is also consider by the specialists consider that it is no less actual or hurtful than pain from any other source.  Phantom Pain is a pain that experience by the patient from which the brain no longer receives signals or from a part of the body that has been lost and it is a type of neurogenic pain. Phantom limb pain is common experience of amputees.

Warm water therapy can decrease pain and stiffness because water takes some weight off painful joints. Sometimes pain can be an indicator of the need for rest.
