Various protests have been attacking Saudi Arabia in the previous years. Now, in the Eastern Province wherein most of the major oil companies operate, there live the Shiites being the minorities of the said country.

Currently, protests were held between the Shiites and Sunnis flares as their neighboring country, Bahrain. The Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia had been surrounded by m(–foul word(s) removed–) protests Friday to demand regarding the release of Shiite prisoners.

Demonstrators stand to their belief that the treatment towards those prisoners had been unjust.

The President of the Human Rights First Society named Ibrahim al-Mugaiteeb has said that it was last Friday when demonstrators reported that Shiite prayer leader was arrested when the m(–foul word(s) removed–)ive protest begun to reach a focal point.

Meanwhile, al-Mugaiteeb added that after Sheikh Tawfeeq Al-Amer made a sermon regarding the issue that Saudi Arabia should become a constitutional monarchy, it was then that he was arrested that Friday.

However, an immediate view from the authorities of Saudi Arabia was hardly being reached.

Two similar protests came on heels when there had been around 200 protesters in the city of Qatif while 100 protesters are in the city of Awamiyya who pleaded for the release of the Shiite prisoners.

Moreover, there was also a demonstration that had been held on Thursday which resulted to the arrest of 22 protesters by the authorities according to Al-Mugaiteeb.

Again, another protest took place in Riyadh after the Friday prayer based on the two Saudi activists who chooses not to be identified for security’s sake.

Based on the said sources, a short protest was held by 40 anti-government demonstrators outside the Al-Rajhi Mosque. The activists have said that the protesters were able to attract the worshipers who were about to leave the mosque.

They brought with them signs that presented Saudi Arabia’s map without carrying the words “Kingdom of Saudi Arabia” which is considered to be a bold insult to the Saudi’s royal family.

On further studies conducted by analysts, a belief had been taken that the Bahrain protests could spill over into the Shiite provinces where oil fields of Saudi Arabia are located.
