Vice President Jejomar Binay left Friday to Middle East for a one-week special mission after the 25th Anniversary of the EDSA1 People Power revolution in 1986.

Binay arrived in Kuwait to represent President Benigno Aquino III to meet the top officials in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and United Arab Emirates and to represent in behalf of President Aquino during Kuwait’s National Day celebration in February 25.

After the celebration Binay continue to meet the ranking officials of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

Vice President Jejomar Binay will be holding bilateral discussions for a labor agreement with the officials from three countries during the meeting to improve the conditions of Filipino workers in the region.

One of the primary concerns of Vice President Jejomar Binay in his special mission is monitor the situation of Overseas Filipino Workers in Libya, Yemen and Bahrain with regards to the m(–foul word(s) removed–)ive protests and conflict taking place in those countries.

“President Aquino instructed me to secure the life of OFW’s and if necessary, will direct the team during the evacuation of Filipino from Libya. Whatever situation I can observe, I will be doing the best thing to be done just tot ensure the safety of our OFW,” Binay said.

“I will also request the neighboring countries to secure the approval for safe p(–foul word(s) removed–)age of OFW’s leaving Libya,” he said.

Binay will be back March 5, said the report.
