The growing m(–foul word(s) removed–) unrests in Egypt due to m(–foul word(s) removed–)ive protests against the administration of President Hosni Mubarak have left thousands of Filipinos living in Egypt in constant fear of their security. There are at least 6,569 Filipino professionals in Egypt and 1,676 students according to the estimates given by the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs.
Government from other countries have already given a go signal to leave Egypt and secure their citizens from imminent danger. The United States have already sent a chartered flight to secure their citizens. Orders of evacuation was also given by the government of India, Iraq and Tureky.
Migrante International, a filipino non-governmental organization have already urged the government to immediately declared an evacuation of Filipinos in Egypt for the sake of safety of its citizen. The government agencies involved must take careful decision for this matter.
Meanwhile in an interview conducted by ABS-CBN, to (–foul word(s) removed–)ociation of Filipino-Egyptian president Jocelyn Taleon she was quoted as saying “Filipinos are eager to go home due to the rising tensions” She further adds “most of them are already packed up and just waiting for the order from the emb(–foul word(s) removed–)y, they have never go outside of their residence for fear”
Hopefully the government of the Philippines will not be late in declaring the immediate evacuation of its citizens from Egypt.
