Officials report that at least 8 people are killed and many injured in a suicide attack at a popular supermarket in Kabul, capital of Afghanistan. The market was visited mostly by foreigners. Police and the witness tell that the suicide bomber first opened fire on people and then detonated the explosives. The reports say that an Afghans and Foreigners that include a child and two women are among the dead in the suicide attack.

The Finest store just a few meters from the British Emb(–foul word(s) removed–)y was emblazed by the blast. The supermarket is located next to a very busy round-about and a police checkpoint. The supermarket had armed guards as well. This is common to all the Afghan stores. But despite the presence of Armed Guard, a suicide attack cannot be stopped since the role of the suicide is not deterministic.

A police officer who was the witness told that he heard a sound ‘bang’ suddenly after the bomb blasted. He further said that a second bang was heard but still he did not go inside. A consultant who was in the shop Mary Hayden told that she heard a gunshot to her left and then the bomb went off. She saw everybody running to the back of the building. A cameraman of Reuters saw three dead bodies. Two out of three dead bodies were women.

A ring of steel was put up around Kabul to prevent militant attacks before last September parliamentary elections. At least four people died earlier this month in Kabul when a suicide bomb attacker smashed into a bus. The bus was carrying security forces.

The condition of the country still remains a question for many. Many of the analysts reveal that role of U.S in Afghanistan has not fulfilled the desires of NATO. Though the U.S blames everything on Taliban but it is evident the U.S has lost the war in Afghanistan. This is the reason that U.S is withdrawing forces in the middle of this year.

This is not the first of the bomb blasts that have shattered the integrity of the country. Taliban have been a tough challenge for U.S. The war against terror is now lost somewhere in the mountains of Tora Bora. The Generals of U.S are thinking of a strategy to accomplish the goals that were set.

But the fate of the country is not decided yet. Will it be peaceful? The question has a symbolic essence for social workers across the world. The bloodshed in Afghanistan has to end in order to establish such a peace.
