Acer Iconia Dual-Screen Notebook and Tablet: Two in One

The Acer Iconia Dual Screen notebook is the first computer with two displays. It is equipped with an Intel Core i5 processor and Windows 7 software. The Iconia has 4GB in RAM and 320 GB in Hard Drive expendable to 750 GB with the graphics designed by Intel HD. If you have a smartphone, the display of the Iconia is no different and you can flip it easily like any other smartphone. Instead of a keyboard, you will find two 14 inch multi-touch LCDs and 1366 x 768 resolution for the display. The Acer Iconia is very heavy and weights 2.8 kg. You will not be able to hold it for long time. The notebook has 3 ports, Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity.

The main noticeable difference is the absence of a physical keyboard that many will not appreciate. While typing, a virtual keyboard is difficult and can not be replaced by a virtual one. Another drawback of the notebook is the low reactivity of the trackpad. It does not have a two-finger scrolling but a horizontal scroll instead. The speed of the mouse and acceleration are also slow, which make it very unpleasing to use. In market you can find a better Windows 7 notebook launched by Fujitsu that has a physical and rotating keyboard that you can fold and form a tablet. The keyboard is also convertible to hand writing which is also very slow process. Thanks to the second screen, you can expand the browser to it. However, the gap of 7 cm between the two displays makes it difficult to read in that angle.

The idea of two screens provided by the Acer is really appealing, but still needs a lot of modifications to be a substitute of a physical keyboard. The price of the Iconia ($1987) does not justify the usefulness of the notebook since it is not practical. Acer should think of a more thin, light, rotating screen to attract attention.
