Just right after Australia overcome the flood-ravages last week, now here comes another tragedy Australia is not really expecting of. Queensland is now declared in disaster zone since half of the state is ravaged by the unmerciful flood.
Most of the cities are now surrounded by water, which is measured at almost 51 feet and can only be accessible through the use of helicopters. Residents are now forward in looking for evacuation centers around the city, while others are stockpiling for food and needed supplies.
Queensland, Emerald, Rockhampton, and Theodore were just some of the cities affected by flood. Australian government made their every possible way they could be able to help the said affected areas, but it is really expected that the biggest storm and worst flooding is yet to come.
The Bureau of Meteorology said flood warnings remained in place for many areas of Australia, with major and moderate flooding still occurring throughout much of Queensland’s southern half.
Thirty-one of Queensland’s 73 communities are now receiving government disaster (–foul word(s) removed–)istance, Prime Minister Julia Gillard’s office announced.
Acting Attorney General Brendan O’Connor said the government would continue to monitor the situation in disaster-declared areas across Australia and work with state authorities to provide more (–foul word(s) removed–)istance in order for the damages to be control before it will take to be in big dilemma.
