Matet de Leon in Tears as She Reveals Regrets Over Past Feuds with Mom Nora Aunor
MATET DE LEON – Overcome with emotion, Matet de Leon broke down in tears as she expressed deep regret over her past feuds with her late mother, National Artist Nora Aunor.
Actress Matet de Leon broke down in tears as she delivered an emotional eulogy for her late mother, National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts Nora Aunor, during the final night of her wake on April 21. The heartfelt moment came as Matet publicly expressed her regret over the strained relationship she had with her mother due to past misunderstandings.
“Syempre hindi naman po lingid sa kaalaman ng lahat na may mga ano kami ni Mommy,” Matet began, her voice trembling. She shared how Aunor would often refer to her as the “sutil na anak” in conversations with close friends.
One of their most publicized conflicts occurred in 2022, when Matet accused her mother of launching a gourmet tuyo business that allegedly competed with her own. At the time, Matet felt betrayed and declared she would no longer speak to Aunor. Fortunately, they were able to reconcile just a month later.
Despite the reconciliation, Matet admitted there were still many times they failed to communicate. “Maraming times na hindi po kami nakakapag-usap,” she said. “Ayoko po magsalita dahil I am still full of regrets,” she added, wiping away tears as she stood before her mother’s casket.
In her final words, Matet addressed her mother directly, hoping she knew how much she was loved in her final days. “Alam mo na, Ma, kung ano po ‘yung sinabi ko sa inyo. Mahal na mahal ko po kayo, Mommy. Pahinga na po kayo.”
Matet was joined by her siblings Lotlot, Ian, Kenneth, and Kiko de Leon, who also paid tribute to their late mother.
Nora Aunor passed away on April 16 at the age of 71 due to acute respiratory failure. She was laid to rest at the Libingan ng mga Bayani on April 22, surrounded by family, friends, and countless admirers who mourned the loss of the Philippine cinema icon.
