Pope Francis Last Wishes In His Will

These are the last wishes of Pope Francis, according to his will.

POPE FRANCIS – The Roman Catholic Church leader died on Easter Monday at 88, and these are his last wishes.

Earlier this year, Pope Francis was hospitalized for weeks after suffering a severe health crisis. He was confined to the hospital for weeks, and after a lengthy battle with double pneumonia and other health issues, he was discharged. However, weeks after the discharge, the pope died.

In a previous article, the pope’s cause of death, according to his death certificate, was a stroke that led to a coma and caused his heart to fail. To recall, Francis made his final public appearance on Easter Sunday, a day before his death. He looked frail, and up to the very last moments of his life, he dedicated it to his faith and to the people.

Catholics worldwide mourned him, and Catholic and non-Catholic leaders alike honored a spiritual leader who gave his voice to the weak, marginalized, migrants, LGBTQ+ people, and environmental protection.

For his final wishes based on his will, he asked to be buried in a simple, unadorned tomb inside his beloved Roman basilica, Santa Maria Maggiore.

Here’s what he wrote in his will dated June 29, 2022:

“Feeling that the sunset of my earthly life is approaching and with lively hope in Eternal Life, I wish to express my testamentary will only as regards the place of my burial.”

Cardinal Tagle is among the strong contenders as a potential successor to the pope. There are also cardinals such as Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Cardinal Peter Erdo, Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, Cardinal Peter Turkson, Cardinal Sergio da Rocha, Cardinal Carlos Aguiar Retes, Cardinal José Tolentino de Mendonca, Cardinal Raymond Leo Burke, and Cardinal Fridolin Ambongo Besungu.
