China is nowhere to be found around the globe? No. I’m not talking about the geographical map; I’m talking about the Facebook map, where millions of people are now buffed with. How great Mark Zuckerberg when he created the famous social networking site, Facebook and became this year’s Time Magazine’s person of the Year. People across the globe might be thanking him now, China won’t be.

Facebook must be kidding! Where did China go? I don’t know, but as what the Facebook map of the world flaunted, China is missing. Why is that so? According to Paul Butler, the result was surprisingly detailed map of the world. Not only were continents visible, certain international borders were apparent as well. What really struck me, though, knowing that the lines didn’t represent coasts or rivers or political borders, but real human relationships.” As you could see in the map, the countries that are strike by the fluorescent clusters were the United States and Europe, which have the wide users; the clear contours of Indonesia, which is home of the most Facebook users in Asia, but China, which is supposed to be in the giant hole, is missing.

Facebook can acquire many active users on China, but since there are popular websites dominates the country, they prefer to browse and chat through Tencent’s QQ and MSN Messenger.

One savvy citizen even spots an additional reason for China’s absence from the map. Chinese users who circumvent the country’s internet restrictions by using a VPN server appear as users in foreign cities. “So even if we use Facebook in China, we still cannot be seen on the map. Haha!, ” he writes.

Maybe China was not really interested to be friend on us. That’s all right. As long they are in the globe, Earth will be still on its feet. After all, it is just a network. Humans are still friends in HIS eyes.
