Kapamilya young star, Jessy Mendiola will play the leading role in the Philippine remake of the popular Mexican series, Maria Mercedes in the upcoming Pinoy version of the Mexican soap opera.

The confirmation of Jessy’s role as Maria Mercedez was revealed to her during the Star Magic Ball last year and as part of the teaser for the project, Jessy appeared as Maria Mercedez in the ABS-CBN 2013 Summer Station ID.

The 20-year-old actress will be paired with hunk actor, Jake Cuenca who will play the leading role as Jorge Luis. Jake welcomed the project positively and was very excited as he witness the transformation of Jessy Mendiola into a mature actress.
Aside from Jake Cuenca, other Kapamilya hunk such as Jason Abalos will be part of the project also. The series will be directed by Chito Roño. The Maria Mercedes stars Thalia and was aired locally by ABS-CBN in 1996.
