Eid Al Adha Declared as a National Holiday on October 26, 2012

A long weekend awaits the Filipinos as Malacañang declared October 26, 2012 as a national holiday. The date falls on Friday, the date mark the celebration of Eid ‘l Adha.

According to Presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda, the President has declared the October 26 as a regular holiday through Proclamation No. 448.

The Eidul Adha or the Feast of Sacrifice is an important religious holiday celebrated by the Muslims around the world to commemorate the willingness of Ibrahim to offer his son as an act of obedience to God.

The celebration start after the Hajj, the annual pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia by the Muslims worldwide. The Hajj is one of the pillars of Islam that every Muslim should take part at least once.
