Facebook and Youtube Co-Founders Invested in Qwiki

Facebook and Youtube are the two most popular social media sites that keeps its rivalry getting hotter every day. Facebook is the most popular social media website and the world’s largest photo-sharing sites while youtube dominates the video-sharing sites and a part of the Google Inc., the world’s most popular search engine.

Eduardo Saverin, co-founders of Facebook and Jawed Karim, co-founders of Youtube have different perspective for the rivalry. They have joined hands in giving financial support for one of the newest internet start-up company, Qwiki.com. Qwiki’s aim is to improve the way people experience information. It was founded by Doug Embroce as CEO and Dr. Louis Monier, the founder of Altavista.

Eduardo Saverin was born in Brazil to a Jewish family. Studied at Harvard and co-founded facebook with Mark Zuckerberg. According to Facebook he owns a 5% shares of the company worth $1.1 billion. He was the man who sued Zuckerberg in a lawsuit and finally retain his name as co-founder of Facebook.

Eduardo Saverin now lives in Singapore. In one of the demonstration of Qwiki being watched by Saverin from Singapore he was convinced that investing in Qwiki is a right decision for him to help build the newest start-up company. Qwiki had received an award from Techcrunch Disrupt Conference.

Jawed Karim

Jawed Karim on the other hand was the third founder of the world’s largest video-sharing site, Youtube with Chad Hurley and Steve Chen.  He is the very first person who uploaded a video on Youtube entitled “Me at the Zoo”. He had made significant contributions to Paypal by installing anti-fraud system while working with the said company.

Joining Jawed Karim and Eduardo Saverin as millionaire investors at Qwiki are Pradeep Sindhu of Jupiter Networks, Pejman Nozad,  Bobby Yazdani, Shervin Pishever, Keith Rabois, Mike Brown and Elad Gil. Venture Capital Firms have also invested in Qwiki. Qwiki was founded on October 2009 with $9.5 million in funding eventhough it is now at its Alpha Stage.
