PHILIPPINES – Confirmed as reported on a local newspaper, Rosemarie Dumanais, alias “Ka Soly” and “Ka Ensa”, wife of Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) leader Gregorio “Ka Roger” Rosal died three months ago in an encounter with government soldiers.
CPP’s confirmation strengthened military’s earlier report that they had killed a female guerrilla in a clash.
The said encounter took place at Mauban, Quezon last Feb.7 according to the post on the rebels website on May 4.
Dumanais at 52 as describe by her comrades is a hero and a dedicated woman in their revolution. They mourn towards her death for she was like a mother to them. And they said that her death is as heavy as the mountains of Sierra Madre and Banahaw (both known as habitat of the communists).
She may have p(–foul word(s) removed–)ed away but her comrades will always remember her as a hero.
CPP said that Dumanais and Rosal met and got married inside the movement. She started her involvement in the New People’s Army way back 1979. She became a student organizer in Camarines Sur then turned out to be a guerilla leader in Central Quezon and finally became part of the party’s regional central committee.
However, no intelligence report is being confirmed about the number of children they had, only that Dumanais is the only wife of Ka Roger. Furthemore, according to report, Dumanais 2 daughters had already joined the movement. And they were Andrea and Mafe.
Moreover, a text message expressing condolences to the family was sent from Col. Eduardo Año, who is the commander of the Army’s 201st Infantry Brigade (–foul word(s) removed–)igned in Quezon. And he offered the family a decent burial for Dumanais. In fact, after the clash, soldiers tried to locate her body but her comrades had taken it and brought it to their location.
Año said that the death of Dumanais is seen to be a major setback to the rebels’ activity in the south.
