The Filipinas squad in its comeback will face the powerhouse of Iran today and the Kazakhstan on Saturday for the preliminary round of the Rebisco Asian Under-23 Womes’ Volleyball Championships.

All fans’ cheers and yells are expected to cover PhilSports Arena.

The Philippines, resting in 65th place in the International Volleyball Federation World Rankings for the Women Under-20 division, will try to move up against Kazakhstan and Iran, in the 29th and 35th rank respectively.

Fans are cautioned from expecting too much from the Philippine volleybelles because of the records of the first two opponents.

“No expectations dito kasi this is the Asian level,” said Larong Volleyball ng Pilipinas, Inc. (LVPI) President Joey Romasanta. “‘Yung Iran can you imagine our national athletes for all other sports go to Iran for training. ‘Yung Kazakhstan is a very rich country.

However, Romasanta believes that the team with the powerhouse led by Valdez could put up an intense inside court battle.

“They’re really very good and are in for surprises,” Romasanta added. “Nakikita ko naman sila, watching them practice. Talagang desidido naman sila.”
