James Reid shared his thoughts on being Liza Soberano’s manager now
Actor-singer James Reid shared what is probably the main reason why actress Liza Soberano signed a contract with Careless Music.
James is the president and founder of the said record label that has extended to managing stars. His business partner Jeffrey Oh is the Chief Executive Officer. This year, Liza was one of the artists who chose Careless Music. The actress is previously managed by talent manager-vlogger Ogie Diaz.
In a recent interview, based on the article in PEP, James talked about being a manager now of Liza. He said that he did not see it coming. “Most surprising thing that happened to me in, I dunno, years,” he said.
Then, James Reid said that he did not expect that he and Liza Soberano would work together on a project. He and Liza would meet in ABS-CBN before but they did not have the chance to really talk.
“You know, just in passing we talk to each other… Never have I thought that she would come on board with Careless,” the actor-singer said. When asked about the decision of Liza to join his company, James said that it is because the actress has certain goals for her career that are in line with the goals of his company.
“I talked to her, along with my CEO Jeff, and I asked her, ‘What do you want?’ And then she said, ‘Oh… No one’s ever asked me that before.’ So we said, ‘OK, what is it that you wanna do?’ ‘I wanna go Hollywood.’ And we said, ‘Let’s make it happen,'” James explained.
He added that Liza now has more freedom when it comes to deciding on her career. “And I think that’s the main reason why she came on board with us because every person she met was, like, ‘Oh we’re gonna make you do this, do that,'” the actor-singer said.
James Reid also stressed that they are the first person to ask Liza Soberano what she really wants to do and what she really wants to achieve. For the actress’s first Hollywood acting project, she joined the cast of the movie Lisa Frankenstein.
