The highly anticipated visit of Pope Francis to the worst-hit area by super typhoon Yolanda, Tacloban City, could be delayed by a possible weather disturbance that will possibly enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility during the time when Pope Francis visit the Province of Leyte. The Armed Forces of the Philippines revealed a contingency plans that will bring first the Pope to Cebu City before the scheduled Tacloban trip.
According to Armed Forces chief Gen. Gregorio Pio Catapang said that they have prepared contingency measures in case the weather wreak havoc on Pope Francis’ scheduled trips especially to Leyte.
The organizers of Pope Francis visit to Tacloban noted that they are ready fo the Pope to first land in Cebu City if a Tacloban stops does not prove safe for the highest official of the Roman Catholic church.
Based upon the contingency plans, the Pope wil then wait for improved weather conditions before making his way to the Tacloban airport, where he will be officiating an open-air mass.
Although there’s a contingency plans set up by the Philippine organizers of Pope Francis visit, all decisions on the itinerary will be decided upon by the Vatican.
During the earlier preparations made by the Philippine organizers of Pope Francis visit in the province of Leyte, it took 48 minutes for the practice papal convoy to reach the Archbishop’s Residence in Palo from the Tacloban airport.
