Juancho Triviño is doing a good job of making the viewers of ‘Maria Clara at Ibarra’ annoyed
Kapuso actor Juancho Triviño has done this effort to make sure that his Padre Salvi character in the Kapuso primetime series Maria Clara at Ibarra is engaging.
Juancho’s role in the said historical portal fantasy series is his first full “kontrabida” role. Obviously, he is doing a great job as a villain as netizens have been criticizing his character through memes.
In a recent interview, based on the article in The Philippine Star, Juancho said that since the time he started his acting career, he has been aiming to play different roles to show his versatility.
“Whatever role or genre is given to me, I want to do it,” Juancho Triviño said. He also shared the reason why he accepted this project. The Kapuso actor believes that this is good material.
The fact that he will be working with a good production team also added to the factors that pushed him to be part of this project. “Direk Zig (Dulay) is an award-winning director at Cinemalaya and it’s in primetime,” he added.
In preparing for his role, Juancho said that he had to watch and review materials that involved the stories of Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo. He also said that before the filming, he already asked the production team what they want to see from his character and how Jose Rizal envisioned Padre Salvi.
Juancho also said that his character knows what is right or wrong. “Alam niya kung ano yung rason kung bakit siya nanduon. He also knows that the Spaniards are different from Filipinos… lumalabas at lumalabas pa rin yung sinful side of him. He really wants, parang, to brainwash and control people’s mindset, kung ano yung iniisip nila,” he explained.
The actor also admitted that it’s tough doing Padre Salvi because of the internal struggles. “Mahirap siya sa pakiramdam din kasi ramdam mo yung frustration nung character,” Juancho said as Padre Salvi should not feel attracted to Maria Clara.
Hearing positive feedback about his character, Juancho Triviño said that he is not letting this dwell in his head because there are a lot of things that will happen in the coming episodes. He said that he wants his character to have consistency.
