The country’s weather bureau, PAGASA already raised a Public Storm Warning Signal Number 1 over Eatern Visayas as Bagyong Hagupit (Ruby) intensifies into a typhoon stronger than Bagyong Pablo. As of 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 4, Bagyong Hagupit was spotted 860 kilometers east of Surigao City, packing a maximum sustained winds of up to 195 kph near the center and gusts of up to 230 kph.

Storm signal number 2 is raised over the following areas. These should expect winds of 61 to 100 kph in at least 24 hours.

Ruby, which is moving west northwest at 15 kph, is expected to make landfall over the Eastern Samar-Northern Samar area on Saturday afternoon.

According to PAGASA’s update, Bagyong Hagupit is expected to be 385 kilometers east southeast of Borongan, Eastern Samar on Friday morning. In Saturday morning (December 6, 2014) Hagupit will make a landfall over Samar area before Saturday noon.

By Sunday morning (December 7, 2014) Hagupit is expected to be at 20 kms south Southwest of Romblon. The weather bureau also noted that the weather disturbance will bring an estimated rainfall of 7.5 – 20 millimeters per hour (heavy – intense) is expected within Hagupit’s 700-km diameter.
