Cebuana beauty and Miss Philippines Earth Jamie Herrell was crowned as the Miss Earth 2014 winner on Saturday night, becoming the second Filipino to win the crown after fellow Cebuana beauty Karla Henry dominated the beauty pageant in the year 2008. The coronation night of the Miss Earth 2014 was held at the University of the Philippines (UP) Theater in Quezon City.
The Miss Earth 2014 celebrates the 14th edition of the beauty pageant that originated in the Philippines featuring a total of 85 candidates from various countries and territories around the world.
The 20-year-old beauty from the Philippines is an acting student at the International Academy of Film and Television at the University of San Jose-Recolletos in Cebu City. She formerly won as Sinulog Festival Queen 2013 representing Placer, Masbate.
During the Miss Earth 2014 finals night, Jamie Herrell was so confident with her answer particularly in the Question and Answer portion of the beauty pageant. When she was asked about global warming she answered: “Global warming has been known to be a long, overdue issue…I will use my title to inspire others, help our environment, and we start with the kids…the kids are the people of Tomorrow.”
Aside from winning the title, she also bagged three special awards, namely: Miss Earth Hannah’s Beach Resort, Best in Swimsuit, and Sun for Miss Earth Award.
