Darren Espanto and Sue Ramirez worked together for Masskara Festival Theme Song
Singer Darren Espanto expressed excitement to show the music video that he did for Masskara Festival with actress Sue Ramirez.
Every October, Bacolod City, known as the City of Smiles, celebrates the Masskara Festival. This festivity started in 1980 during the time when Negreses or people of Negros Occidental were suffering a hard time because the primary commodity of the province, sugarcane, experienced a downfall.
Despite the difficulty, Negrenses did not forget to smile and hope for things to be better. Every year in Bacolod City, the capital of Negros Occidental, people gather together to celebrate the “festival of smiles.”
For this year, under the administration of Mayor Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez, the Masskara Festival is set to be celebrated from Oct. 1 to 23, based on the report from Manila Bulletin.
On September 12, the official website of the Masskara Festival was launched along with the official music video of the festivity featuring Darren Espanto and Sue Ramirez. The song Smile Again (Balik Yuhum), which was composed and produced by Red Events, also features Masskara dancers.
The remix version of the song will be used for the street dance competition. Darren and Sue also showcased the famous delicacies from Bacolod.
The singer shared a post on his Instagram page about this stint. Apparently, he and Sue also enjoyed the food. He said that he is privileged to be part of this project. “Here are a few pics and vids behind the scenes from our shoot pero feeling ko talaga food trip yung ginawa namin ni Sue. Sooo many great places to eat!” the singer enthused.
Darren Espanto will perform the Masskara Festival theme song live on Oct. 23. The festival was canceled for two consecutive years due to the pandemic.
