2023 National Expenditure Program – How Much Is the Gov’t Budget for Next Year

2023 NATIONAL EXPENDITURE PROGRAM – The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has submitted the proposed government budget for next year.

Annually, the Philippine government gets a certain budget that is divided among the Office of the President, Office of the Vice President, Congress, and the different government agencies. Currently, the proposed budget for 2023 is done and has been submitted by the DBM.

PROPOSED BUDGET FOR 2023 – Most government offices will be getting more funds next year under the proposed 2023 National Expenditure Program.

Currently, proceedings regarding the Philippine government’s budget for next year is already ongoing. The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) prepared the 2023 National Expenditure Program and has already submitted it to the House of Representatives.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the proposed budget for 2023 is set to bring more funds to most government agencies in the country. Under the 2023 National Expenditure Program, the Office of the President will have a budget of P8.969 billion next year. There will be slight increase compared to the P8.18 billion fund in 2022.

It was last June 30 when President Bongbong Marcos who won the 2022 Presidential Elections through a landslide victory assumed office. His inauguration was held at the Philippine National Museum.

Based on the report, P5.438 billion of the proposed budget for 2023 for the Office of the President is allotted for the Presidential Oversight Program while P144.77 million is set to go to the Presidential Advisory Program. The Presidential Legal and Legislative Services Program is allotted P181.972 million while the Presidential Executive Staff Services Program is allotted P1.276 billion.

With regards to the Office of the Vice President, the budget grew by three folds compared to the P702.035 million budget for the OVP in 2022. The proposed fund for the OVP in 2023 is P2.292 billion. The good governance program of the office is allotted P2.201 billion.

The judiciary is allotted P51.426 billion next year which is higher than 2022’s P45.735 billion. The Congress will get lower funds next year from P30.631 billion to 2022 to P25.869 billion next year.
