Marjorie Barretto, the mother of teen star Julia Barretto revealed the reasons why her daughter can petition to drop her father Dennis Padilla’s surname.
The mother of the Mirabella lead star cited her annulment to Dennis Padilla in 2009. According to Marjorie Barretto, their wedding is “bigamous” noting that her former husband married in 1994, three years before they tied the knot in 1997.
Dennis Padilla’s real surname is Baldivia and based upon the records of the National Statistics Office (NSO) Julia Barretto is also carrying his surname.
Aside from Julia, Dennis Padilla and Marjorie Barretto have two kids, Claudia and Leon. In a recent interview, Dennis Padilla went emotional as he recalled upon learning that his daughter wanted to drop his surname.
During his tell-all interview, Dennis Padilla stressed that his financial incapacity might be one of the reasons that he can even allow his daughter to call for the petition to drop his surname.
However, Atty. Lorna Kapunan, the legal counsel of Barretto family told ABS-CBN News that his financial stability is not among the reasons why they are gearing up to change the surname of the Kapamilya young actress.
Julia Barretto or Julia Francesco Barretto Baldivia in real life has yet to issue any statement over her father’s cry to junk their petition to change her surname. Her decision to change her surname is currently making rounds online which even landed as most talked about topic in various social networking sites.
