Elderly Grandma in Critical Condition After hit by Falling Coconut on Her Face
BOAC, MARINDUQUE – A falling coconut has placed an elderly grandma in critical condition after suffering from a head injury.
Coconuts falling from trees and striking individuals can cause serious injury to the back, neck, shoulders, and head, and are occasionally fatal. There are some victims who have already died due to this incident.
The authorities also advised the public to remove coconut trees in residential areas or near houses to avoid such incidents. According to some reports, falling coconuts kill at least 150 people each year worldwide.
Recently, a 75-year-old woman named Mercedes Chavez is currently in critical condition after suffering a head injury due to falling coconut. The poor grandma was sleeping when the incident happened.
The family got shocked after a coconut falls from the tree and landed on their roof. The coconut destroyed a portion of their roof and hits the elderly lady right on her face. Lola Mercedes has been rushed to the Marinduque Provincial Hospital.
The health personnel advised the family to bring the victim to a larger hospital in Batangas for advanced medical treatment and procedure. However, Chavez’s family doesn’t have enough cash to finance the grandma’s hospitalization.
The victim’s family is seeking help from the kind-hearted people who are willing to lend a helping hand. The family is willing to accept donations from anyone who wants to help Lola Mercedes.
