Bohol Councilor, 8 Others Caught in Illegal Gambling Activity Arrested
Police authorities arrested an alleged councilor in Bohol and eight (8) others after being caught in illegal gambling activity.
Councilor Pacheco Rances, 65, a resident of Barangay Poblacion, was detained by Jagna police in the municipality of Jagna. Rances is allegedly running for re-election in May 2022, based on the report.

Apart from Rances, eight other suspects were detained by the police playing mahjong, according to Jagna police head Major Marcos Lopez. Eriberto Rain, 72; Felix Yray, 51; Venusto Caseas, 60; Wendell Du, 48; Conrado Yap, 65; Silvano Bayron, 83; Antonio Salazar, 57; and Ireneo Salas, 47 are the other suspects.
According to Lopez, the police monitored the area after receiving a tip that illicit gambling was rife. They discovered Rances and eight other captives in a residence playing mahjong.
An undisclosed quantity of wager money and gaming accessories were seized from the accused. According to Lopez, because of the COVID-19 outbreak, no licenses have been provided to gaming enterprises in their region.
He emphasized that the Jagna police department is ruthless in its fight against all sorts of illicit activity in the city. Police charged the accused with violating anti-illegal gambling rules in the local court on Tuesday morning.
