BAR Association Disqualifies Several BAR Examinees For Violating Honor Code

BAR EXAMS 2022 – Several BAR examinees have been disqualified due to violation of honor code.

Supreme Court Associate Justice Marvic Leonen said that some BAR examinees have been disqualified due to violation of honor code. The examinees have been disqualified for not admitting of testing positive for COVID-19 before the exams.

Examinees who brought their mobile phones and used their mobile phones during lunch break got disqualified. Leonen told the exam takers to reflect on what they have done and learn from their mistake.

“For now, reflect on what you have done but know that you can still change your narrative. You will not end up as the examinee who lost your honor forever in your desperation to pass an examination. Learn from your mistake, and honor your back,” Leonen said.

The BAR chairperson said that the disqualification will only take effect for the 2020-2021 Bar exams.

More than 11, 000 individuals took the BAR examinations this year. Instead of four, the management shorten the examination period into two days due to the coronavirus pandemic. There are 31 remote testing sites in 22 areas in the country.

According to Leonen, this year’s numbers of examinees is the highest over the past two years since the pandemic started. The examinees were required to present a negative antigen test.

The examination have been digitized but 12 examinees have been allowed to take handwritten test because of their health condition. Some exam takers were glad due to the convenient and comfortable digitized examination.

The bar examination is an exam administered by the bar association of a jurisdiction that a lawyer must pass in order to be admitted to the bar of that jurisdiction
