DILG Says More Charges Against Berjaya Hotel Following Quarantine Breach
The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) said more charges are being prepared to be filed against Berjaya Hotel following the quarantine breach of “Poblacion Girl”.
More cases at the Berjaya Hotel are being considered by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG). This comes after a lady from the United States managed to avoid obligatory quarantine at one of these facilities.

DILG spokeswoman Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya told the ANC that this was not the same as the first complaint made against those implicated in the quarantine breach. He stated that the CIDG is considering pursuing more charges against the property.
It is yet to be determined what charges will be brought against the persons involved. When the Department of Tourism (DOT) terminated its accreditation, the Makati local government issued a closure order for the Berjaya Hotel in Makati City last week.
Gwyneth Chua, dubbed “Poblacion Girl,” will be noted for refusing to undergo forced quarantine on December 23, 2021. She even managed to party and eat at a restaurant that was later found to be COVID positive.
According to the Department of Health, seven of Chua’s 11 close contacts were infected with COVID-19 (DPH). Aside from that, five Berjaya employees tested positive for the virus, according to the story.
Meanwhile, during the gathering in San Juan, La Union province, 18 of Gwyneth Chua’s 20 close contacts tested positive for COVID-19. This came after a fundraiser for typhoon Odette victims was held at Kermit La Union, a resto-bar at the food complex in Urbiztundo hamlet in San Juan town, with 20 persons in attendance.
