The young Tin Patrimonio, who was named as the tournament’s MVP, clinched the best of three series by scoring a 6-4, 6-2 triumph over Rachelle De Guzman for the Lady Bulldogs to complete their come-from-behind victory, after losing the game 1 last week.
NU managed to level the game 3 count at 2-2, after dominating the doubles face-off while the defending champion La Salle seized control of singles matches. The Lady Bulldogs’ Marie Gold Nagret and Anna Vienna Biernes pair slipped past Lynette Palasan-Dasha and Camille Bautista tandem with a 6-2, 6-0 victory in the opening doubles while Kimberly Kaye Uytico and Junnalyn Polito pair also defeated La Salle’s Anne Rene Castillo and Nikkirey Arandia, 6-3, 6-4, in the second doubles match.
The La Salle netters on the other hand won the first and second singles with a 3-6, 5-4 triumph of Ma. Regina Santiago over NU’s Jzash Eale Canja and a 6-0, 6-4 win of Marinel Rudas from Hanna Grace Espinosa.
The feat of the Sampaloc-based hitters was a sweep of the season 76 tennis event as the team’s men’s counterpart also dominated their division winning over University of the Philippines in the finals last Tuesday.
