The local government claimed on Facebook that the alleged AB 3.0 sneakers being sold in a Saudi Arabian mall were not owned by the government. The authorities are currently contacting the manufacturers and suppliers to further investigate the situation, according to the statement.
“This is not related in any way to the city government of Makati and Department of Education-Makati. We are currently contacting our manufacturers and suppliers to further investigate the matter,” read Makati LGU’s statement.
Based on the report, the Air Binay shoes were supplied to Makati City public school students for free. Since its launch in 2018, the local government has been distributing the all-blue sneakers to Makati public school students. The city authorities also warned against using the Makati City seal without permission, the statement added.
“We warn individuals and groups that there are legal actions in the unauthorized use of Makati City seal, as we commit to serve the #ProudMakatizens with transparency,” it added.
