Vice Pres. Robredo To Make “Important Announcement”
ROBREDO – The spokesperson of Vice President Leni Robredo issued a statement over the “important announcement” she’ll be making.
The period set by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) for the filing of candidacy is ongoing now until October 8, 2021. The voter registration period will resume after the filing of candidacy and it will last until October 30, 2021.
COMELEC previously set September 30 as the deadline for the voter registration period. However, many Filipinos have yet to register and the public called for its extension. Congress helped in making a call to the poll body for its extension.
Initially, COMELEC said that it cannot afford a one-month extension of the voter registration period. Both the Senate and the House of Representatives passed bills seeking for its extension.
The poll body agreed to extend the voter registration period from October 11 to October 30. Currently, the filing of candidacy period is down to its last three (3) days.
Many incumbent politicians have already filed their Certificate of Candidacy (COCs) but there are still those who have yet to unveil their decision. One of them is Vice Pres. Leni Robredo who was nominated by the opposition coalition 1SAMBAYAN for president in the 2022 Election.
Many people await the decision of the Vice President. Previously, her party stressed that she is still weighing things and her camp assured that she will make a decision in due time.
Recently, Barry Gutierrez, the spokesperson of Vice Pres. Leni Robredo, released a statement announcing that the Vice President will make an “important announcement” soon.
According to Gutierrez, the announcement of the Vice President is set on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at 11:00 in the morning. Here’s his post on Twitter:
VP Leni will make an important announcement this Thursday, Oct 7, at 11 am. Please stay tuned.
