Retired US Soldier Arrested Due to Illegal Firearms, Drugs During Raid in Bohol
Police forces arrested a retired soldier of the United States (US) over illegal possession of firearms and drugs during a raid in Tagbilaran City, Bohol.
A raid was performed by the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG), which resulted in the arrest of an American citizen. The foreign national was identified as “Renante Rejas alias Airborne,” a former US soldier, according to the report.

The 42-year-old was arrested after a search warrant was issued for him for allegedly breaking the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. According to PDEA-Bohol, Rejas is also among the Top 5 of the city’s Target-Listed Personalities.
The suspect was also under surveillance for several months due to his involvement in illegal narcotics and possession of a pistol, according to the article. Five sachets of suspected shabu, drug paraphernalia, multiple rifles, and a.45 caliber revolver were among the items confiscated from Rejas.
Rejas retired from the US Army and landed in Bohol sometime in 2020, according to PNP-CIDG Bohol chief Lt. Col. Saturnino Estigoy. Jenelyn Matura, who was shot and killed while driving a sport utility vehicle in Tagbilaran City on December 15, 2020, was also linked to him.
Matura and Lilet Dajao were previously arrested in Tagbilaran City during a buy-bust operation that yielded shabu worth P13 million. Estigoy went on to say that they had received information that Rejas was also a hired gun.
Rejas has been transferred to the Camp Francisco Dagohoy headquarters of the Bohol Provincial Police Office for proper disposition and detention pending the filing of charges against him. The suspect is now facing charges of breaking the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
