Two of the largest educational institution in the country, the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) and the University of the Philippines (UP) System have already approved the academic calendar shift from June-March to August-May, meaning the opening of cl(–foul word(s) removed–) for 2014-2015 will start this coming August 2014.
The announcement was made through the official Facebook page of the Philippine Collegian, the official student publication of the UP-Diliman. The post quoted UP Student Regent Krista Megarejo as saying the UP Board of Regents has approved the shift of the academic calendar from June to August starting Academic Year 2014-2015.

NEWSFLASH: From Student Regent Krista Melgarejo: The UP Board of Regents has approved the shift of the academic calendar in UP from June to August. In the meantime, UP Diliman will keep the same calendar, due to opposition registered by sectors.
All members of the University of the Philippines (UP) System will implement the shift, except from the University of the Philippines Main Campus of the UP-Diliman who will keep the same academic calendar (June-March) “due to opposition by sectors.
Meanwhile the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) confirmed that the academic calendar shift for the University will take effect in the year 2015. The Academic Calendar shift changes covers the University’s Loyola Schools and Professional Schools.
The Loyola Schools of ADMU is the tertiary level school unit of the university that offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs in the Arts and Sciences while the Ateneo Professional Schools is the post-graduate unit of the university.
Meanwhile the Ateneo Grade School and High School will remain in the June to March academic calendar. Ateneo’s decision of shifting their Academic Calendar is “among the initiatives to be undertaken by the Ateneo de Manila University in response to the increasingly globalized world.” Ateneo said.
