“Vax 1, Take 1” – Elderly, Immunocompromised Can Bring “Plus 1”

“Vax 1, Take 1” Inoculation Drive Allows Category A2 Plus One In Vaccination

“VAX 1, TAKE 1” – As COVID-19 continues to spread in the Philippines, more and more people are getting vaccinated.

To supplement this, vaccine experts from the Philippines recommended that seniors and immunocompromised individuals bring a “plus 1” when getting vaccinated. With this, the government aims to encourage more Filipinos to get inoculated against the virus.

According to an article from ABS-CBN, the policy called “A2 Plus One” vaccination may be signed and set into motion “within the week”. During an on online forum, she stated:

Para mas mahikayat po natin ang ating mga lolo at lola, pinapayagan na po ng ating national government na pwede silang magdala ng isang kasambahay, kamag-anak o kung sino ang kasama nila sa bahay ang maaaring pumunta para po siya ay makapagpabakuna

However, the “Plus One” for the category A2 vaccination must be a member of the household. Furthermore, they must also belong under the priority group A.

Meanwhile, when it comes to the A3 priority category, only those who are immunocompromised and those who would have difficulties going to vaccination sites can bring a “plus one”.

Much like most countries, the Philippines is eyeing herd immunity. In lieu of this, Vaccine Czar Carlito Galvez Jr. stated that the government aims to achieve this by November of 2021.

But currently, merely 12.7 million Filipinos have gotten fully vaccinated against COVID-19. On the other hand, 15.5 million have yet to receive their second dose.

As of now, a large percentage of the Filipino population remain hesitant to get vaccinated due to fears regarding the vaccine. Along with this, unapproved alternatives such as Ivermectin are still making rounds across the country.
