BB Gandanghari Criticized By LGBTQ Community for Photo W/ Manny Pacquiao

BB GANDANGHARI – BB Gandanghari took to Instagram to share her photos with Sen. Manny Pacquiao but her snaps were criticized by some members of the LGBTQ community.

In February 2016, eight-time world boxing champion Manny Pacquiao sparked outrage when he said “gay people are worse than animals” on TV5. He said, “Common sense lang, nakakita ka ba ng any animals na lalake sa lalake o babae sa babae?”

Pacman said animals were better because they recognize gender differences. His remarks were criticized by lots of Filipinos including celebrities like Vice Ganda.

Vice Ganda shared Pope Francis’ picture, suggesting that the leader of the worldwide Catholic Church does not condemn gays. The comedian quoted the pope: “If a person is gay and he searches for the Lord and has good will, who am I to judge?”

After sparking outrage, the legendary boxer apologized for homophobic comments he made on tv. He said, “I’m sorry for everyone who got hurt due to my comparison of gay people (homosexuals) to animals. It was my mistake. Please forgive me for those who I’ve hurt.”

“But this does not change my position against same-s*x marriage. That’s what I believe. My only mistake is comparing gay people to animals.”

Recently, actress and prominent LGBTQ+ member Bb Gandanghari took to her Instagram account to share her experience of personally meeting Manny Pacquiao. She said she even had a meal with the boxer.

“It was a indeed a pleasure to meet, after a negative swab test, and in fact share a meal with you, Senator Manny Pacquiao. Your humbleness strike me the most,” she posted alongside her photos with Pacman.

It seems that LGBTQ community members have not forgotten Manny Pacquiao’s comment about same-sex marriage. A netizen reminded Bb Gandanghari of his homophobic remark.

“He lambasted the lgbt community before saying mas masahol pa sila sa hayop. Did you ask if what is his stance today?” the netizen said.

To which the transgender woman responded, “this is noted…. Ive heard of this, and must admit I had my second thoughts of going. I was scared of course, to just even feel I’m being discriminated by the PacMan. I’ll definitely look forward to be given the chance to inquire about that and try to know what he truly feels toward the community and towards me as an individual.”

“But rest assured, I’ve got the best treatment from @mannypacquiao and the whole Team Pacquiao for that matter, the moment he knew I arrived in his house. Sometimes, #Action speaks louder than words.”
