2 Fixers of LTO Arrested During Entrapment Operation in Bulacan
Authorities arrested two (2) alleged fixers of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) during an entrapment operation outside office in Bulacan.
According to the report, one of the fixers was holding a baby when they were apprehended at the LTO in Tabang, Guiguinto, Bulacan, during an entrapment operation. Two suspects known only as “Rey” and “Anne” approached two undercover officers from the Anti-Red Tape Authority and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, according to the police report (CIDG).
The fixers offered to secure a student permit in as little as three days, including a medical test and a theoretical driving certificate. Despite the fact that the permission price is normally only P317, “Rey” charges P3,500 and “Anne” charges P4,500.
Outside of LTO, undercover agents agreed to pay fixers. “Rey” and “Anne,” who was still carrying her 1-year-old kid, were detained after collecting the “entrapment money.” The suspects had already been taken into custody by the CIDG, and “Anne’s” kid had been handed over to her mother.
After multiple fixers were arrested outside the office, the ARTA-CIDG filed charges against LTO Caloocan chief. According to the report, ARTA launched an entrapment operation, where the number of fixers in front of the LTO main office vanished.
In Caloocan, the agency was also able to apprehend a fixer. Fixers gradually returned to the police a few weeks after the operation, requiring ARTA to conduct another entrapment operation. Other fixers stand far away from the LTO offices, posing as ordinary residents.
