What did Rabiya Mateo feel after not making it in the Top 10?
Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo revealed what she felt after failing to enter the Top 10 in the 60th edition of Miss Universe.
Rabiya, fortunately, entered the Top 21 with the support of many Pinoy pageant fans from around the globe. However, his Miss Universe journey ended there when her name was not called as one of the Top.
In a recent interview with King Of Talk Boy Abunda, Rabiya Mateo shared her goal was to reach the Top 5. “Kasi we prepared for a different format. The usual format you know, to have the opening speech, to nail the swimsuit competition, to reach the Top 5 and aced the Q&A. ‘ Yun talaga ang target ko,” the Ilongga beauty queen shared.
However, that opportunity was not given to her. “Hindi talaga para sa akin Tito Boy,” she said. She admitted that the fact that she was not able to make it to the Top 10 did not sink in at first. That would have given her the chance to showcase her final evening gown.
“At first when I wasn’t called to be on the Top 10, nasa backstage ako, nanlalamig ako Tito Boy. And then sabi ko, ‘yun na ‘yun. ‘Yun na ba ‘yun? That was it? Months of sacrifices. Hanggang dun nalang ako. Then I was crying,” she revealed.
On the other hand, she realized that she can’t discredit everyone’s effort because she did not make it. She simply translated that miss opportunity as something that was not meant for her.
When it comes to the judges, Rabiya Mateo said that she understands that she was not the one that they were looking for.
“Kaya I was thankful Tito Boy, na at least nakapasok pa rin ako sa Top 21. Kasi ang dami talagang magagaling na sa perception ko, dapat kasama din to eh. Pero they didn’t make it. So it’s all about destiny then Tito Boy,” she said.
