Last Sunday December 8, Negros Occidental was jolt by mild quake and late Monday night December 9,2013, a magnitude of 4.2 quake struck again.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said that quake struck at 11:26 p.m at 19 kilometers northwest of Sipalay town.
The depth of the quake which was tectonic in origin, was recorded at only one kilometer.
The intensity 5 was felt in Hinobaan, Negros Occidental and in Sipalay Town the quake was felt at intensity 3.
Phivolcs (–foul word(s) removed–)ured that the people who lives there should not expect aftershocks and damage from the tremor.
Meanwhile, at 9:31 p.m in Prieto Diaz Sorsogon, the agency recorded a magnitude of 4.5 earthquake.
The quake that struck has a depth of 112 kilometers and its epicenter was traced four kilometers southwest of Prieto Diaz.
However intensity 3 was felt in Matnog, Sorsogon and intensity 2 in Barangay Cabid-an, Sorsogon City and in Legaspi City.
Aside from it, there are also two earthquakes have jolted Occidental Mindoro Monday morning December 9, according to the Philippines Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.
Phivolcs said that 3.3 magnitude quake was recorded 1:48 a.m., 31 kilometers southwest of Looc, Occidental Mindoro. Three hours later, another 2.5 magnitude quake hit 28 kilometers Southwest of Looc. Both were tectonic in origin.
The 3.3 magnitude quake had a depth of 1 km. while the 2.5 magnitude quake had a depth of 11 km.
Phivolcs has also recorded a 2.2 magnitude earthquake at 4:03 am, 23 km Northwest of Sipalay, Negros Occidental, which had a depth of 23 km.
At 7:27 am Monday, a 3-magnitude earthquake hit Aurora province. The tremor, which had a depth of 19 km, was located 23 km Southwest of Dinalungan, Aurora.
In regard with this mild quakes, there were no aftershocks and damages recorded.
